Rastep uses no analytics or advertising scripts and provides no user accounts or contact forms. Article searches run entirely in your browser. Search terms are not sent to Rastep.

Language selection and IP lookup

When you visit the language-neutral root address without a saved manual preference, the browser requests https://ipwho.is/?fields=success,country_code. The third-party provider IPWHOIS receives your IP address and the usual technical connection information. The country code is used only to choose a language: Germany, Austria and Switzerland lead to German; other countries, failures and a wait of more than five seconds lead to English.

Direct links under /de/ or /en/ do not trigger this request. A manual language choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under rastep-language and takes priority over country detection. You can remove it by clearing this website’s browser data. Read the provider’s privacy information for more details.

Hosting and external links

When pages and images are requested, the hosting provider processes technical connection data, including the IP address. Specific logging and retention depend on the hosting service used. This website includes no additional script for that purpose.

All images and website files are served locally. Fonts come from the visitor’s system; no external fonts are loaded. After you follow an external source link, the destination provider’s privacy terms apply.
